Faculties

Boland College offers exciting, modern and relevant study programmes.  As one of six Further Education and Training (FET) institutions in the Western Cape, we have five campuses in Caledon, Paarl, Stellenbosch, Strand and Worcester respectively.  These campuses offer a variety of career-orientated programmes that prepare students sufficiently for the workplace.

Our qualifications are designed to provide both the theory and practical experience related to a particular vocational field. This ensures access to work opportunities in a work environment or sector relevant to the students’ vocational specialisation.

Economic and Management Science

They say “money makes the world go round”…Financial skills are in high demand today, as it is by far the largest industry worldwide. Plenty opportunities await in the fields of banking, bookkeeping, payroll, finance, marketing, Human Resources and countless more.

Hospitality and Tourism

South African Tourism currently enjoys a great boom and exciting opportunities abound for someone interested in this sector. Individuals may find themselves working at airlines, car hire companies, cruise ships, foreign exchange, tourism information bureaus, hotels, bed and breakfasts, travel agencies and much more. So if you are self motivated and can be cool, calm and collected in this fast-paced environment this might be a good field to enter.

Office Management Science

You need to be self motivated, patient, a good listener and great communicator to excel in this field.  Boland College offers various choices in the Faculty of Office Management Science from becoming an Executive assistant, Private secretary, Office manager to a  Legal secretary, Public relations assistant or Medical secretary.

Information Technology and Agriculture

Information Technology (IT) affects our daily existence. As one of the fastest growing and most on the go industries in the world - it influences the way we live, work and play.  If you like discovering ways of doing things better, smarter and faster, IT might just be what you are looking for.

Electrical and Civil Engineering

There are countless different offerings in the Engineering & Built Environment sector. Electrical Engineering offers a wide range of activities that may include everything from energy and power to the generation and distribution of electricity. Civil engineering experts are needed for vast infrastructural projects such as the planning and building of dams, power stations and much more.

Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering is one of those essential “jobs” across all sectors.  This engineering discipline requires someone that is a logical thinker with problem-solving abilities, able to work in a team, able to multi-task and a hard worker.

Safety and Security

Various career opportunities exist for someone wanting to study in this field. You will be able to join the South African Police Service (SAPS), Metro or Traffic police or join a private security service provider when successfully concluding your studies.

Social Sciences

According to EDTP SETA’s Sector Skills Plan for the Period 2005 – 2010, there is an impending shortage of educators in South Africa.  If you want to make a difference in other people’s lives – to assist them to gain a new understanding, insight or a new skills – this may be extremely rewarding career.

Part-Time Programmes

A variety of part-time programmes are also offered at all Boland College campuses, providing adult learners and employed people with the opportunity to obtain a formal qualification, further their studies or do an enrichment course.
