Hermanus Campus

Known as the whale watching capital of South Africa, this once sleepy holiday village is now one of the most thriving towns in the Western Cape and boasts many activities for young and old all year round. From music festivals to art galleries and everything in-between, Hermanus caters for all types of people.  In this town you will find another official satellite of the Boland College Caledon Campus.

Boland College has always had an interest in meeting the skills training needs of the Overstrand.  In the past there were students from the Overstrand who would board in Caledon to attend classes in Caledon.  In 2008 the Overstrand Trainging Institute (OTI) moved into large enough premises to operate Boland College courses.  At that time OTI met with Deputy CEO, Innovation and Development, Mrs. Cathy Robertson who arranged to introduce the business courses. 

By 2009 we took our first full time intake for the Management Assistant N4 and part time Marketing Management N4 students under the generous guidance of Mr. Christo Cordier.  Today we have grown to a full time N4 and N6 as well as part time Business Management.  This first group achieved a 90% pass rate and one of these students was Miss Boland Caledon for 2009. 

OTI is situated in the Enlighten Centre in Hermanus in an innovative building that is the first double storey Lite Steel work building in the Overberg which was another opportunity for training in a variety of construction skills as the contract to build the centre included the opportunity for trainees to gain construction skills qualifications. OTI is hopeful that Boland College will continue to introduce more courses for post matric participants in Hermanus. There is a demand for hospitality and IT qualifications to meet the growing economic development in this area.

FROM STELLENBOSCH:

Start on Merriman St in Stellenbosch and head towards Adam Tas St (R44).
Turn left onto Adam Tas St (R44).
Follow R44 for 11.5 km.
Turn onto the N2 in the direction of George.
Follow N2 for 40.8 km.
Turn onto R43 in the direction of Kleinmond, Hermanus.
Follow R43 for 12.1 km.
Turn right onto Swartdam Rd.
Turn left onto Arum St.
Continue on Arum St, Hermanus Campus on your right-hand side.

FROM CALEDON:

Start on Prince Alfred Rd (R316) in Theewaterskloof and head towards Plein St (R316).
Turn right onto Plein St (R316).
Turn right onto R320.
Follow R320 for 33 km.
Turn left onto Main Rd (R43).
Turn right onto Swartdam Rd.
Turn left onto Arum St.
Continue on Arum St, Hermanus Campus on your right-hand side.

FROM KLEINMOND:

Start on R44 in Overstrand.
Follow R44 for 9.5 km.
Turn right onto R43.
Follow R43 for 12.1 km, which becomes Main Rd.
Turn right onto Swartdam Rd.
Turn left onto Arum St.
Continue on Arum St, Hermanus Campus
