Database Applications (S117927O)

  • Use GUI-based database application to solve a given problem L4 (SAQA ID 117927)

Purpose

  • The unit standard is intended for people who need to plan, produce and use database to solve problems using a GUI-based database application either as a user of computers or as basic knowledge for a career needing this competency, like the ICT industry.

Who should do the programme?

  • Learners who require end user computing skills in all sectors of the economy, as End User Computing is an essential skill in any business today. This unit standard is designed to accommodate both learners in formal education and learners already employed. It aims to develop informed and skilled learners that can apply the acquired skills in any industry and should contribute towards improved productivity and efficiency in the workplace.

What skill will you learn?/Basic content of programme (Exit Level Outcomes)

  • Prepare a database to provide a solution to a given problem.
  • Create a data entry form for a new database table to solve the given problem.
  • Retrieve information from a database.
  • Sort data in a database query.
  • Create a report for a database table.
  • Perform advanced print options for a database.

  • 20 hours (10 x 2 hours)
  • R700
