Primary Labour

Primary labour legislation that impacts on a business unit

Purpose

  • Basic understanding of primary labour legislation that relate to the management of a business unit
  • Enable the learner to apply labour legislation in the work place

Who should do the programme?

  • Managers of small businesses; junior managers, team leaders, supervisors and section heads in human resource departments of larger organizations.
  • Those who have recently taken up a position at the first level of management in an organization and has other employees reporting to him/her.
  • Those who have performed a human resource function in their organization without a formal Qualification in Human Resources and/or Labour Relations
  • Those who have passed grade 12
  • Those who are competent in Communication, Mathematical- and Financial Literacy at Level 3.

What skill will you learn?/Basic content of programme (Exit Level Outcomes)

  • Identifying legislation that regulates employment issues
  • Understanding of the main aspects of the Labour Relations Act(LRA) as amended, that relate to the management of a business unit
  • Explaining the requirements of the LRA in respect of interviews
  • Understanding the main aspects of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act as amended, that business unit managers might be responsible for implementing
  • Understanding the Employment Equity Act as it applies to business unit managers
  • Understanding the Skills Development Act, 97 of 1998 and the Skills Development Levies Act as they apply in a business unit

Price and duration

  • 28 hours: 1 evening per week (18:00 - 20:00) x 14 weeks
  • R900 (Notes included)

All campuses (depending on minimum enrolment of 12 learners per group)
