Boland College’s (BC) Diploma Award Ceremony took place on Friday, 14 May 2010, at the Worcester Campus. This annual event serves to give recognition to students who have completed their studies successfully.
A total of 840 students have graduated this year with 100 diplomas, 700 certificates and 36 Level 4 National Certificate (Vocational) awards which was handed to the students by Mr Sedick Jappie, BC’s Chairperson of the College Council, and Mr Chops Fourie, CEO of BC. This year’s ceremony saw the first National Certificate (Vocational) awards being awarded to the Level 4 students by Boland College.
“We are convinced that the qualifications that the students have obtained will facilitate their entrance into the job market in the present competitive economic climate. We would like to congratulate our students and our very best wishes accompany them in whatever career they choose to follow,” Mr Chops Fourie, CEO of BC, said.
The more popular programmes that have rendered the most awards are the Marketing Management N6 with 117 awards, Financial Management N6 with 88 awards and Management Assistant N6 with 84 awards.
Mr Fourie continued saying: “We believe this marks that beginning of a new chapter where the seed of lifelong learning will grow and bear fruit for the community that the students work in and for our country.”
The words of Michael Korda, “Success has always been easy to measure. It is the distance between one’s origins and one’s final achievement”, is the slogan that was used in the invitation to the Ceremony, and it refers to the theme of this year’s function. It forms an intrinsic part of what BC wishes for these students and their future plans.
